If you don't already know, I had to have Polly pts on 4th September (see previous post). Now I know Honey is on borrowed time, due also to Arthritis.
She's been slightly lame at times and I've had to help her into the car, she won't jump on the bed or get on the sofa. So I booked her in with our favourite vet.
Turns out she has Arthritis in both front legs, with it in her shoulders and wrists. She also has it in her neck and right hip. The right hip is the worst affected of all.
She is now on painkillers and I've ordered some joint meds recommended by the vet.
She will be 9 in February and as she raced it was inevitable that Arthritis would get her, unless something else did first. Polly coped with the Arthritis for going on four years, then the painkillers at the highest dose she could have didn't help with the pain.
All we can do is take it as it comes, but when the pain gets too much for the painkillers to cope, it will be time to let her go.
