Polly

Polly has Arthritis in her elbows and shoulders.  It seems to flare up during the cold and wet weather.  This flare up hasn't eased, so I took her to the vet.  She's now on one 50mg Rimadyl a day.  Hopefully when the warmer weather arrives, she can come off them.

Vet was very good and did a price match with an online site.  Vets would have been £1.58 each, online 55p each.  I've got two months supply, but then she has to have bloods tests at £70 before my vet will issue more Rimadyl.

Polly is only 8 and it worries me that she already has Arthritis and long term use of the meds can cause liver problems, but we have to keep her pain free.

I think the time will come when I will have to take the girls for a short walk.  Then put Polly back in here and go out again with Honey.

I don't know what the future holds for Polly, but I intend to enjoy every second I have with her.

Don't forget to hug your hound/s.

WOYWW 25th March

Here is my WOYWW (What's On Your Workbench Wednesday).  If you want to know more about this weekly event, take a look at Julia's blog http://stamping-ground.blogspot.co.uk

Here are four of the cards I showed last WOYWW, but now finished.  I haven't put any sentiments on them, as I can do that when I send them out.  They be birthday, Get Well, Thank You or whatever I need.

The last two are made using Toppers I have received in swaps.  The last one is decoupage, but it doesn't show up on the photo.

Happy WOYWW.

Honey

Tuesday I had to rush Honey to the vet just before 5pm.  She was obviously in a lot of pain.  Vet checked her over.  No it wasn't anything from the spay.  No she didn't have a temperature.  No it wasn't Bloat.  No it wasn't pain in the back or neck or any other joint.  The vet pressed and poked and it wasn't till she prodded just up near the end of Honey's ribcage that Honey yelped very loudly and kept yelping.  Vet was stumped, but agreed I had done the right thing in taking her in.  After losing Song so suddenly I can be a bit paranoid.

Anyway, vet gave Honey a painkilling jab that had Morphine in it.  She said this will sting.  Well you would have thought she was cutting Honey's leg off.  I came away with a tube of paste stuff that had antibiotics in it and she had to have that twice a day.

Once home Honey just stood still trembling and drooling.  I have never seen so much drool.  Had to put newspapers under her.  Every now and then she would arch hr back and then try and relax, but never managed it.  Then she squatted a few times, but I didn't realise she had done three very little pees.  I put her lead on and led her outside.  She squatted and then got up, then squatted and then.....well I think you get the picture.  Eventually she did a very small hard poo (sorry if too much info:)).  We came back in and I coaxed her into the dog bed.

The vet had warned me she would be drugged up by the jab, and boy did she looked spaced out.

I slept in my reclining chair in here, so I could keep an eye on her and she'd have the bigger dog beds.  Well every little sound I woke, but Honey slept through.

Vet had made me a 9am appointment for Wednesday, but said I could cancel it if she was better.  Well how she'd been the previous evening, I wouldn't have been surprised if I had found her passed away.  The last time I saw a dog looking that ill, was Song and she had to be pts within hours of getting her to the vet.

Anyway, Honey was 95% recovered.  She remained a little subdued for the morning, but then was back to her usual exuberant self.  It was so nice to see her wagging her tail again.

I've only had her a short time, but I realised how much I had bonded when I thought I was going to lose her.

Please don't take your dog/s for granted.  In a blink of an eye they can be gone.  Go now and give yours a huge hug.

Dover Police Officer Jeff Davis

I am sure you have all seen this, but I love it.  It makes me smile how he must have listened to it several times to be able to sing along like this.  Also so funny when he sees someone and stops and looks to see when he can continue.

Turn on your speakers and enjoy.

NB...You'll have to pause my music.  Top left.

Well I can't believe yet another week is coming to a close.  The only good thing with the days flying by is we are getting ever closer to Spring and then hopefully a really long hot summer.

The girls and I have made it to the cliffs a few times and down to the beach, so the days are improving.  Days are definitely getting longer, with lighter mornings and evenings.

As you can see whatever the weather outside, my girls are happy.  Polly often lays half in and half out of the large bed.

Honey usually keeps everything in the bed.

Polly loves to roach.

Polly goes back to the vets on Monday to see how the Rimadyl is helping with her stiffness due to Arthritis in her elbows and shoulders.  She's definitely not as bad, but still some stiffness and occasionally a limp.

Well we hope you all have a lovely weekend.  Don't forget to hug your hound/s.

The girls and I hope you are having a good week.

Weather has been changeable here.  One minute sunny and dry, the next dismal and raining, but always bitter cold.  Supposedly the temps are to rise, but doubt they'll last long.

The girls have their week planned out with early morning walks, sleeping, eating, sleeping, roaching, sleeping and more sleeping.  It sure is a hard life.

Honey trying to roach.

Still not got it.

The girls now have two rigid dog beds in my bedroom.  They aren't as big as the two in the living room.   I use single duvets with a tog of 13.5 folded twice in them and then a fleece blanket on top.

I have had bloggers from America asking where they can get these rigid beds.  Amazon.com has them.  Just put in Rigid Dog Bed, or Marchioro Perla Dog Bed and you should see them.  They are really good, as they just need a wipe over with antibacterial wipe and then every now and then a wash with soapy water.  I find my girls much prefer them as they hold the bedding and they feel enclosed.

That's it from me and the girls.  Remember to hug your hound/s.

WOYWW 4th March

Here is my WOYWW (What's On Your Workbench Wednesday).  If you want to know more about this weekly event, take a look at Julia's blog http://stamping-ground.blogspot.co.uk

Many congratulations to Julia on doing 300 WOYWW

Now this card has been received I can show it.  The 'D' which wouldn't photograph well is fabric and actually sent to me ages ago by the person who got the card:)

I made this New Home card ready to give to the buyer of my dad's bungalow.  Not sold it yet, but a lot of interest.

I have just finished this crochet throw.  At times I did sit at my desk doing it whilst watching YouTube videos.

Happy WOYWW.
