So how is everyone? I hope you are all doing fine. Too many beloved dogs have gone to The Bridge recently, so you all make sure you give yours an extra long hug.

Now an extra special plea. Greyhound Gap are at crisis point at their kennels. They have had to close their doors to any new hounds. We all know what this could mean for a lot of hounds. If you could spare a few pennies please drop in to their site (their button is on the right of my blog page). They also are in desperate need of volunteers to help at the kennels, do home checks, etc., so if you think you might be able to help please get in touch with them. If anyone could foster a hound or two or even better give a forever home that would be great as then they can take some more hounds in.

Song's 9th Birthday and 3rd Gotcha Day

It's Song's 9th birthday today and it's also three years today since I got her. The time has flown by. I can't believe the robot I got has blossomed into the beautiful goofy girl I now have.

As you can see, Song is a little worse for wear. Think the partying was too much for her:)

Well we have a good 7" of snow here this morning. It was like a blizzard at 10pm last night and it must have carried on for some time during the night.

Song and I only went for a short walk. Forecasting it to all freeze up, so if that happens I think Song and I will hibernate:)

I had to stop several time to get packed snow from between Song's pads.

Well Song broke a nail yesterday whilst we were over at my dad's. Blimey a little bit of blood goes a long way. Anyway, of all her nails, I am glad it was this one as it had been growing almost in a spiral and I was going to have to get the vet to do something.

Song's fine today and doesn't seem to be worrying about it.

I have added a couple of cards to my PurplePoppy Crafting page.

Well I have changed Song's breakfast, as she sometimes didn't eat any of it and often left about half. I am trying her on a chew that is for joint care and a couple of biscuits. She seemed happy enough this morning.

I was going to give her a dental chew each morning as well, but when I had my Jack Russell the vet told me they were fattening and only to give one or two a week.

Well we have a sunny and dry morning, but boy is it cold and set to get colder. Even mention of the white stuff.

Good morning from a very wet Norfolk. Not looking forward to taking Song for her walk.

Had a busy week, but today is a 'go with the flow' day, so looking forward to it.

Well would you look at this smashing ornament my friend's sister made for me. It's actually a pyramid shape. I love it so much I have asked her to make two more going up in size. As with the first one, the next size up will have Song on the front and the largest will have Blue. When they are standing next to each other they will say Song Song Blue, which was Song's racing name.

Well Song has been snuggling into her bed these cold days. She still likes to roach though.

This arrived for Song yesterday. Dad and I ordered one for Song and one for Maggie. Song was definitely happier in her bed last night and snuggled up to the end where I put it.

This is the latest sick thing some evil people are now doing here in the UK. They are putting pieces of food out in parks which have nails/tacks inside. Not only is this a danger to wildlife, but to dogs as well.

Well with the very high winds we had yesterday, I hope no one has any damage. We have a clothes whirligig down, but that was due to someone putting washing out. The wind was so strong it just blew it straight over. Some people just don't think.

Just done some dg duties and have the rest of the day to myself now. Not feeling good today, so glad of an easy day.

Well I have not posted for a bit. First I had my brother and sil staying. Then not well due to side effects of a new diabetic medication. I've just had to raise the dose and the side effects kicked in again. All I can do is stick with it and hope they diminish as my body adjusts. Anyway, as the song goes I Will Survive:)

Autumn is almost here and our weather is changing to cold, wet and overcast. Any nice days from now will be a bonus. Mornings are darker and evenings are drawing in. I don't mind the evenings so much, but I hate having to get up in the dark and having to wait till it's light enough to go out with Song.

Good morning. Well my plans to take the bus into town have been scuppered, as we have heavy rain and it's set to be like this all day.

Luckily it wasn't raining hard when I went out with Song. Too warm to put her waterproof on, so she needed a good rub down when we got back.

We were lucky yesterday and had no showers at all and the morning was lovely and sunny. Came overcast in the afternoon, but still warm enough to sit out in my dad's garden till mid afternoon.

Chucking it down here today. Got caught in a heavy downpour whilst out with Song. I'd forgotten to take my waterproof poncho, so I got drenched. Even if I had known it was going to rain, I wouldn't have put Song's coat on, as she would have been too hot.

After reading of Kristine's success with Clicker Training her lovely dog Shiva, I thought I'd give it a try with Song. Guess what.......she's frightened of the noise. She just retreats away from me and won't even take the snackie being offered.

Strange weather here. Thursday got out really hot in the afternoon. Friday was cool and overcast all day. Yesterday didn't get out till mid afternoon. This morning it is sunny and hot, but supposed to turn overcast this afternoon. Forecast says we will have a week of hot humid and cloudy weather. The humidity will trigger showers, maybe thundery.

I saw this over on Greyhounds CAN Sit. Sue had found it on another blog. I think it perfectly says how we feel about our dogs.

“From time to time, people tell me, “lighten up, it’s just a dog,” or “that’s a lot of money for just a dog.”

They don’t understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for “just a dog.”

Some of my proudest moments have come about with “just a dog.”

Many hours have passed and my only company was “just a dog,” but I did not once feel slighted.

Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by “just a dog,” and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of “just a dog” gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.

If you, too, think it’s “just a dog,” then you will probably understand phrases like “just a friend,” “just a sunrise,” or “just a promise.”

“Just a dog” brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust and pure unbridled joy.

“Just a dog” brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person.

Because of “just a dog”, I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.

Okay, own up. Who took our summer? By heck it's turned wet, windy and cold these past few days. The week is set to be wet, although at the moment they reckon the weekend will be nice, so fingers crossed.

Did manage to get round with Song in the dry this morning. Put Song's waterproof on in case the heavens opened. Stupid design meant it kept swinging round. Why on earth when people make things don't they try them out properly. I had to keep pulling it down on one side.

Well this was Song shortly after getting home.

Well it's been a lovely day. Can't believe the difference from yesterday. Also can't believe the difference they are forecast for tomorrow, of wet and much cooler weather.

I went into town on the bus this morning. Got some crafting stash in the new craft shop. I had a good rummage in the charity shops, but didn't find anything.

Took this one of Song the other day.

More like Autumn here, as it's overcast, cold and showery. Temps today not expected to go higher than 14. When you think only two days ago we had temps in the high
20s, it is a real difference. Hope this is just a blip and we get our summer back.

Good morning. Rather hazy here at the moment, but warm none the less.

I have put some new photos on my Everything Else page and also PurplePoppy Crafting.

Song and I enjoyed being in dad's garden yesterday. We had to seek shade as the temps reached the high 20s.

Despite having a lazy day, this was Song yesterday evening. She's fast asleep and dreaming:)

Sun is out here, but showers are forecast. Supposed to get up to around 23, so good temps.

I had a terrible day yesterday, as I had a Migraine with Vertigo. I'm sure whilst staggering round with Song, people thought I was drunk:) Thank goodness it is much better today.

Hope you are all doing ok. Sending extra hugs to those that are poorly (dogs and humans alike).

Will you look at this. We've had torrential rain this afternoon. The gutters couldn't cope. I watched as the water began to sie up the outside of my flat wall. It would have almost reached my knees, if I'd gone out and stood in it. Luckily I don't have any air bricks on that side of the flat and as it did drain eventually, it hasn't got through he wall.

Further up the road, the road was flooded and the fire engine was called out to pump it away.

I was over at my dad's yesterday. In between the heavy showers Song got some races round the garden. She seemed happy the rest of the time to just lay indoors. Think she realised the wet grass wasn't very appealing.

Good morning. Yet another sunny and hot day here. All change tomorrow though, as they are forecasting a lot of rain. My dad will be pleased as he says the garden needs it.

On the subject of hot weather. Remember to keep your dogs cool. Over on the right there is a new cartoon that you can click on to find more info about Heatstroke.

Here's a photo I took of Song recently. She's actually asleep and dreaming.

Often when Song dreams it is obvious that she is racing. Her legs are going and she is puffing out her cheeks. Everything gets faster as she picks up the pace and then it all slows down as she crosses the Finish Line:) At this point she usually wakes up and looks around her as if looking for the crowds that just cheered her on. I usually ask her "did you win?"

Well another sunny and warm day here. We could be unlucky and get the odd shower later.

I have got my annual Diabetic Retinal Screening shortly. Then a few errands round the village, before coming back to my dg duties (Domestic goddess duties:)) Then this afternoon I will watch the mens semi-finals at Wimbledon.

Here are a couple of photos of Song. Had to smile, as the other day someone described her as a finely toned athlete:) You wouldn't think so to look at her photos:)

Good morning. Well it's very dull and stormy looking here. We've had a lot of rain in the night and Song and I got wet on our walk this morning.

Right the award Winnie gave us yesterday needs to be shared around. I don't have many blogs I go through to and those that I do all deserve the award. However, I'd like to pass it on to the following because they have all had specific problems recently with their dogs and yet they have kept up a cheery blog.

Cult of the Greyhound - Two of Suzanne's dogs have broken a toe recently.

Greyhounds CAN Sit - Beautiful Beryl had to have her tail removed.

Hiking Hounds - Zephyr has been battling seizures as a result of swelling on the brain (sorry can't remember the technical term).

Tales and Tails - Carrie is wonderful in the way she looks after her ageing Greyhound Lilac.

Sweethearts Story - Jess has worked wonders on Sweetheart who was basically skin and bone when rescued from being tied up in a backyard.

I bought Song a new stuffie last week. She's calling him Bear. He doesn't squeak, but she likes to use him as a pillow.

Sometimes Song can be a real Diva and doesn't want her photo taken. As most of you know, photos of her standing are rare:)

Well I have to admit the last few days I've not been well. Felt worse yesterday so took myself to the doctor. I have a respiratory tract infection. Coughing, sore throat, swollen and painful throat, swollen glands....I think you get the picture.

So it was especially nice to get the Genuine Blogger Award, passed to be by Kristine at Rescued Insanity. Thanks for your lovely kind words (which had me in tears). Her blog is a real inspiration. Kristine and her beautiful dog Shiva have come a long way. Go on over and take a look at her blog.

Really heavy rain in the night and still raining this morning. A quick 15 minute dash out with Song and we were both drenched. It was too warm to put song's waterproof on, so she does resemble a wet rat. She always wants to go for her walk, but doesn't think much to getting so wet.

Well the sun is out and it's already hot enough for short sleeves. The wind has a bit of a nip to it, but it really is nice. Showers are forecast this afternoon and a very wet day is on the cards for tomorrow.

These lovely Pinks come from my dad's garden. Unfortunately, the recent rain had knocked them down, so dad said I could cut them.

I am getting the bus into town this morning. Don't need anything, but it's too nice to stay in.

I hope you are having a good weekend. Yesterday was sunny and dry, but we had a very strong wind, which was rather cool. I was over at my dad's and it was nice enough to sit out in the garden. Song loves being out in the garden, but when she's indoors she has this bed at my dad's.

It's our Spring Bank Holiday today.

Already had some rain(whilst walking Song). Supposed to get a belt of rain hitting us later this morning, that won't clear us till this evening. Tomorrow showers, then it's supposed to get warmer and brighter, so fingers crossed.

Thought it was time I updated you on my dad's dog Maggie. She is a real cutie and such a good dog. Her and Song get on fine, so long as she doesn't try and get into Song's bed when Song is in it.

She just loves having her tummy tickled and will roll over on her back to entice you:)

For anyone still having problems with Blogger. I have found if I don't put a tick in the box 'Stay Signed In' on the log in page, I seem to be logged in at least for that visit.
